About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager – Human Resources (AM/DM – HR) to lead and manage the organization’s end-to-end HR operations. The ideal candidate will have 10–12 years of hands-on HR experience, including significant exposure to manufacturing or factory environments, payroll, statutory compliance, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation & benefits, and HR operations.

The role will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day HR functioning while strengthening HR policies, processes, compliance systems, employee engagement, and workforce practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Operations & Administration

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the HR function.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage the complete employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.
  • Monitor HR budgets and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure consistent implementation of HR policies and processes.

2. Payroll & Statutory Compliance

  • Manage and oversee the complete monthly payroll process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries, deductions, reimbursements, incentives, and full & final settlements.
  • Manage statutory compliance related to PF, ESI, Professional Tax (P Tax), and other applicable labour laws.
  • Coordinate with payroll and compliance vendors, consultants, and external agencies where required.
  • Maintain statutory records and documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour and employment regulations, particularly within a factory environment.

3. Compensation & Benefits

  • Develop and review compensation and benefits structures based on organizational requirements and market practices.
  • Support salary benchmarking, annual increments, promotions, incentives, and employee benefit programs.
  • Assist management in developing cost-effective compensation strategies.
  • Monitor compensation-related processes to ensure consistency and internal equity.

4. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment across various functions and organizational levels.
  • Develop effective sourcing channels and maintain a strong candidate pipeline.
  • Implement structured screening, interviewing, and selection processes.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to understand manpower requirements and close positions within defined timelines.
  • Develop employee referral and other talent acquisition initiatives to improve hiring efficiency.

5. Performance Management

  • Implement and manage structured performance appraisal processes.
  • Support quarterly and annual performance reviews.
  • Assist managers in defining KRAs and KPIs.
  • Facilitate performance feedback and improvement plans where required.
  • Support 360-degree feedback and other performance management initiatives, where applicable.

6. Learning & Development

  • Identify organizational and employee training requirements.
  • Develop and maintain annual training calendars.
  • Coordinate with internal and external trainers.
  • Organize learning and development programs across functions.
  • Track training participation, records, and effectiveness.

7. Employee Relations & Grievance Management

  • Handle employee grievances and workplace concerns professionally and confidentially.
  • Promote positive employee relations and a healthy workplace environment.
  • Support employee engagement, welfare, and retention initiatives.
  • Monitor attrition and employee turnover and recommend corrective actions.
  • Handle disciplinary and employee-relations matters in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.

8. HRMS & HR Technology

  • Review and improve existing HR systems and processes.
  • Recommend and support implementation of appropriate HRMS/HR technology solutions.
  • Ensure effective use of HRMS for employee records, attendance, leave, payroll, performance, and other HR processes.
  • Generate HR reports, dashboards, and analytics to support management decision-making.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present regular HR MIS, workforce reports, and management dashboards.
  • Maintain manpower planning and organizational headcount records.
  • Manage onboarding, induction, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exit formalities.
  • Ensure secure and accurate maintenance of confidential employee information.
  • Support employee engagement and welfare programs.
  • Assist management during statutory audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Stay updated on changes in labour laws, statutory regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure effective implementation of HR initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements

  • 10–12 years of overall HR experience
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on HR experience
  • Minimum 10 years of payroll experience
  • Prior Factory / Manufacturing HR experience preferred
  • Master’s Degree in HR, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Professional HR certification such as PHR or equivalent preferred, subject to company requirements
  • Strong knowledge of PF, ESI, P Tax, payroll, and statutory compliance
  • Strong understanding of applicable labour laws and factory HR practices
  • Willingness to work full-time, on-site at Garia, Kolkata
  • Candidates must be able to reliably commute to or relocate to Garia, Kolkata
